  2. In spite of + N/N. phrase/Gerund phrase Eg:Despite Despite his sickness, he still had to go to school. We went out in spite of the rain. Note: DESPITE khơng cĩ OF theo sau. 1. Clauses of concession: However/ Nevertheless,(dấu phẩy) mệnh đề However và nevertheless: dùng để diễn đạt sự tương phản Ta cĩ thể dùng một trong hai trạng từ however hoặc nevertheless để chỉ một việc tương phản với . Sự khác nhau của chúng là ở tính trang trọng: nevertheless hơi trang trọng và nhấn mạnh hơn however. Eg. I can understand everything you say about wanting to share a flat with Martha. However, I am totally against it. Eg. Rufus had been living in the village of Edmonton for over a decade. Nevertheless, the villagers still considered him to be an outsider. Unit 9: FESTIVALS AROUND THE WORLD I. Yes/ No questions (Câu hỏi dạng Yes/No) -Khái niệm: Câu hỏi dạng Yes/No Questions là dạng câu hỏi địi hỏi câu trả lời là Yes (cĩ) hoặc No (khơng). Cơng thức thì hiện tại tiếp diễn: ( +) S + is/ am/ are + V-ing ( -) S + is/ am/ are + not + V-ing ( ?)   3. Diễn tả hành động thường xuyên lặp đi lặp lại, gây sự bực mình hay khĩ chịu cho người nĩi, thường dùng trong câu cĩ sử dụng “always” Ex: • He is always coming late. (Anh ta luơn tới trễ.) ➣ Dùng để diễn tả cái gì đĩ thay đổi, phát triển hơn • The children are growing quickly. (Đứa trẻ cao thật nhanh.) ➣ Diễn tả một cái gì mới, đối lập với tình trạng trước đĩ • These days most people are using email instead of writing letters. *Lưu ý: Khơng dùng thì hiện tại tiếp diễn với các động từ chỉ tri giác, nhận thức như: to be, see, hear, feel, realize, seem, remember, forget, understand, know, like , want , glance, think, smell, love, hate, 3.Dấu hiệu nhận biết ➣ Trạng từ chỉ thời gian • now: bây giờ • right now: ngay bây giờ • at the moment: lúc này • at present: hiện tại • at + giờ cụ thể (at 12 o’lock) Ex: • I am not listening to music at the moment. • (Lúc này tơi đang khơng nghe nhạc) • It is raining now. Đừng nĩi • Hurry up ! Hãy khẩn trương *Pronunciation : 3 syllables . Từ cĩ ba âm tiết và nhiều hơn ba âm tiết 1. Trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ nhất + Đối với danh từ cĩ ba âm tiết: nếu âm tiết thứ hai cĩ chứa âm /ə/ hoặc /i/ thì trọng âm sẽ rơi vào âm tiết thứ nhất.   4. Eg: family, company 2. Trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ hai a. Nếu các động từ cĩ âm tiết cuối cùng chứa âm /ə/ hoặc /i/ thì trọng âm sẽ rơi vào âm tiết thứ hai . Eg: consider /kənˈsɪdər/, remember /rɪˈmembər/, inhabit /ɪnˈhỉbɪt/,examine /ɪɡˈzỉmɪn/ b. Nếu các tính từ cĩ âm tiết đầu tiên chứa âm /i/ hoặc /ə/ thì trọng âm sẽ rơi vào âm tiết thứ hai. Eg: familiar /fəˈmɪliər/, considerate /kənˈsɪdərət/ c. Nếu các danh từ cĩ âm tiết thứ nhất chứa âm ngắn (/ə/ hay/i/) hoặc cĩ âm tiết thứ hai chứa nguyên âm dài/ nguyên âm đơi thì trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ hai. Eg: computer /kəmˈpjuːtər/, potato /pəˈteɪtoʊ/, banana /bəˈnỉnə/, disaster /dɪˈzɑːstə(r)/ UNIT 11: TRAVELLING IN THE FUTURE 1. Future simple tense a. Form : (+) S + will + V(nt) _+ O (-) S + will + not + V(nt) _+ O (?) Will + S + V(nt) _+ O ? ->Yes, S + will./No, S +won’t. b. Usage : Diễn tả một quyết định hay một ý định nhất thời nảy ra ở thời điểm nĩi. Cĩ từ tín hiệu chỉ thời gian trong tương lai c.
